“The Avengers” series is made up of four movies that are all part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The original members of the Avengers, a team of superheroes created by Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. are Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye. Even though those are the original members of the Avengers team, there are other heroes like Wanda Maximoff, Spider-Man and Dr. Strange in the movies.
The first “Avengers” movie came out in 2012. The Joss Whedon directed movie tells the origin story of the Avengers and their first battle as a team. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) are the focus of the film as they fight against Loki (Tom Hiddleston) who is Thor’s brother.
The second movie is "Avengers: Age of Ultron" which came out in 2015. This movie is another directed by Joss Whedon and is about the Avengers fight against Ultron, a type of artificial intelligence created by Tony Stark. All the original Avengers are in this movie in addition to Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), her brother Pietro (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Vison (Paul Bettany).
The third movie in the franchise is “Avengers: Infinity War.” This movie was directed by the Russo Brothers Anthony and Joe. It came out in 2018 and was the first movie where Thanos (Josh Brolin) is introduced who is determined to eliminate half the universe. This is also the first movie where a lot of other superheroes play a big role like Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), James Rhodes (Don Cheadle), Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and The Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman).
The conclusion to the “Avengers” movies came out in 2019. The "Avengers: Endgame" movie is a part two of sorts to “Avengers: Infinity War” as it show’s the hero’s final fight against Thanos as they try to find a way to bring the heroes back who were vanished by Thanos.
