Paris Jackson revealed on Saturday that she underwent surgery to remove a golf ball-sized abscess just one day before she hit the stage to perform with her new band, The Soundflowers.
The 20-year-old said in a video on the band’s Instagram Story that doctors were able to operate on her immediately before the abscess burst, which could cause her to go into septic shock and die.
“So long story short, I had surgery yesterday [Friday],” Jackson said, adding that the abscess was “almost the size of a golf ball.”

“They operated immediately,” Jackson continued. “It was definitely the most pain that I’ve ever been through in my entire life.”
The daughter of the late Michael Jackson said she opted not to use anesthesia for the operation.
An abscess is a pus-filled pocket that can occur anywhere in the body. The mass is common and usually caused by infections, according to Medline Plus.

The operation didn’t stop Jackson from getting on stage the next day. The singer performed with her new band on Saturday at F--- Cancer’s fundraising event, Canyon Sessions, People reported. Her grandmother, Katherine Jackson, also made an appearance.
“We played a show today, and we didn’t completely suck, and my f---ing grandma was there, and I’m so relieved that she didn’t hate it, that she actually liked it. And, I don’t know, that means the world to me,” she said.
Jackson also revealed she is on a lot of medication to treat pain stemming from the operation.
