The Cyrus family are an interesting bunch. Trace Cyrus, older brother of Miley, revealed that he initially wanted to dislike Liam Hemsworth — until he was proven wrong.

“I love him,” Cyrus stated in an interview with Us Weekly after interacting with Hemsworth.

Being an older brother, Trace felt the duty to be protective toward Miley’s prospective lovers. “I mean, any time you have some guy dating your sister, you want to be the big brother – the bully – and hate on him, but he’s such a great guy. I love him. He’s awesome,” Trace admitted.

MILEY CYRUS AND LIAM HEMSWORTH ALMOST NEVER HAPPENED

Initially playing bass for Metro Station, a pop band known for the 2007 hit single “Shake It,” the 30-year-old Trace now performs as a DJ.

Last year, he DJ’d along with sister Noah at an Emo Nite event in LA. These days he has been angling up for a series of DJ performances at The Barbershop Cuts and Cocktails venue in Las Vegas.

While Miley’s marriage was highly publicized, Trace has kept a low profile about his own engagement. Trace revealed that he proposed to fiancée Taylor Lauren Sanders on the night that they moved to Las Vegas.

“[We] moved to Las Vegas in December. I asked her to marry me the night we moved here and next year is the wedding.” Trace continued, “We’re going to get married right here in Las Vegas, actually.”

Trace also shared poignant reflections about growing up. “It’s weird because Miley is now married, I’m engaged and my little brother [Braison] is now engaged too. It’s weird, we’re all getting to that next stage of our lives. We’re growing up, it’s weird.”
