Lyric Knighten, 4, was just trying to play with his grandpa when he jumped on the sleeping man’s stomach and said, “Wake up! Wake up!” Luckily, the older man did— and took himself to the ER with chest pains due to a massive heart attack.

Dave Berrier, 48, wasn’t feeling well and had chest pain when he laid down to rest in his Clear Lake, Wisconsin home, Fox 9 reported. The former firefighter and amateur MMA fighter fell asleep, and when he woke up after his Knighten greeted him, his  chest pain persisted. The grandfather of 11 drove himself to Amery Health Partners and was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., having suffered a massive heart attack with three blockages.

Doctors placed three stents in Berrier’s heart, which had 90 percent blockage on one side and 100 percent blockage on the other, according to the family’s GoFundMe page. He is now in the intensive care unit at Regions and will be on bed rest for four to six weeks.

Knighten saved his grandfather’s life, doctors said.
