Hamburger and hot dog buns recalled over possible 'hard plastic' in products

The company behind several varieties of hamburger and hot dog buns has issued a voluntary recall for its products after it discovered small pieces of hard plastic in its production equipment.

Affected products are labeled and sold under 7-Eleven, Bravo, Clover Valley, Family Style, Flowers, Food Depot, Great Value, Grissom’s Mill, Hitchcock’s, Home Pride, Ideal, Ingles, Laura Lynn, L’Oven Fresh, Market Pantry, Members Mark, Natural Grain, Nature’s Own, Oven Fresh, Piggly Wiggly, Publix, SE Grocers, Sedano’s, Sunbeam, WM and Wonder brands.

Flower Foods said the products were distributed to retailers in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia, and all have a “Best By Date” between July 17-19.

The company said it had not received any reports of injury or illness related to the wide-ranging recall, but that consumers should discard affected products. The company said the product can be returned to place of purchase for a refund, and that consumers with additional questions should contact Flowers’ Consumer Relations Center at 1-866-245-8921.
