Moment 7-year-old shows off new prosthetic to classmates goes viral

An excited 7-year-old girl returned to school in the United Kingdom recently and excitedly showed off her new prosthetic sport blade to her classmates. Anu, whose last name was not disclosed, was met with hugs and smiles from her friends.

“It makes me run faster and do my street dancing faster,” Anu, who had her leg amputated shortly after birth, told BBC Midlands. Her new blade is even in her favorite color: pink.

“It has the sock to make it comfortable,” she told BBC Midlands while demonstrating her sports skills to the network.

The reason for Anu’s amputation as not disclosed, but she received the prosthetic as part of a government pledge to provide funding for patients in need of new equipment. Her father told BBC Midlands that if it came to it, he is willing to sacrifice the family home to afford any new limbs Anu may need.'

A video shared on BBC Midland’s Twitter page showing Anu being warmly received by her friends has received 43,185 retweets and more than 71,200 likes since being posted on Wednesday.
