Parents have revealed they seriously regret picking their child’s name when a celebrity chooses the same one for their own child.

A study has found one in seven moms and dads think they’ve made a “terrible mistake” picking their baby’s name but, of course, it’s too late to back out.

Thousands of people now despise their child’s name, and even more shockingly, more than a quarter of these parents have told their children they regret picking their name.

A study of 2000 parents found one in five began to dislike their name choice once it spiked in popularity.

Close to one in 10 parents were annoyed after a celebrity chose the same name for their offspring as they had.

The study, conducted by Channel Mum, also found one in three people tried to select a name they thought was original and unique but were disappointed to find that dozens of other people had chosen the same name.

In an attempt to find a workaround to their disaster, one in 20 of these respondents try calling their child something entirely different to what’s printed on their birth certificate, while 14 percent have even considered legally changing their child’s name.

Baby name expert SJ Strum, who conducted the study, said two names that parents had ruled out, because of their famous connections were Cheryl and Liam Payne’s son, Bear, and David and Victoria’s daughter, Harper.

Coleen and Wayne Rooney’s son, Kai, and, of course, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter, Shiloh, also made the extensive list.

The list also features the names of Kourtney Kardashian’s children, Penelope and Mason, as well as all of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s children, Charlotte, Louis and George.

But it’s not just the offspring of celebrities who made the list, it’s also celebrities themselves.

It seems parents are fast losing interest in naming their babies after their favorite celebs as well.

The study found expectant mothers don’t want their babies associated with celebrities.

As a result, they are shunning names like Rihanna, Donald (Trump), Kourtney, Cheryl (Cole), Miley, Kylie (Jenner) and Zayn, among others.

According to the study’s author Strum, choosing a baby’s name is one of the most important parts of becoming a parent.

“It’s also something which everyone, from friends and family to total strangers, has an opinion on,” Strum said.

“Celebrity trends mean there is an ever-growing list of baby names to choose from, but this also means there are more opportunities to choose a name which you, or your child, then learn to loathe.”
