The fallen soldier was identified as 19-year-old Cpl. Noa Marciano, the IDF said, and her family has been notified.

Northwestern U. president calls on students to condemn antisemitic phrases; school group claps back

Michael Schill, president of Northwestern University, called on students to reject statements or banners that can be interpreted as promoting murder or genocide in a statement on Monday. In response, the school’s pro-Palestinian group rushed to post a picture that read, "From the River to the Sea."
Schill announced a new committee focused on preventing antisemitism and hate in a letter addressed to members of the university’s community, as well as what led to the committee's establishment.
"In the weeks since the brutal terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas and the ensuing military action in Gaza, I have had the opportunity to meet with students, faculty, parents, alumni and staff across our campuses, many of whom have shared very personal stories of pain, anger, fear or disillusionment as we…face the uncertainties and horrors of the terror attacks and war in the Middle East," he wrote. "This conflict has created division and mistrust on our campuses, further stoked by events that have taken place at other universities and by the rhetoric of individuals both inside and outside our community."
Schill also said the school will not allow antisemitism or any acts against people based on their race, religion, national origin or any other protected categories, as it is against university policy, and most times, against the law.
The school will also investigate any allegations of such behavior and implement disciplinary proceedings against anyone who commits such acts, he said.
Northwestern University’s Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) quickly turned to social media in response to Schill’s statement, posting a picture of an archway at Northwestern University with a Palestinian flag and big red letters that read, "From the River to the Sea."
A group of anti-Israel individuals also allegedly posted a drawing of Schill with devil horns added to his head.

Israeli PM Netanyahu warns America: 'If we don't win now, then Europe is next and you're next'
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered a dire warning to America that it may be "next" if Israel Defense Forces don't decimate Hamas during an interview with FOX News' Sean Hannity on Monday.
"We have to win not only for our sake, but for the sake of the Middle East, for the sake of our Arab neighbors. You know what, for the sake of Gazans who've been held by this dark tyranny that has brutalized and brought them nothing but bloodshed and poverty and misery," Netanyahu said. "We have to win to protect Israel. We have to win to safeguard the Middle East. We have to win for the sake of the civilized world. That's the battle we're fighting, and it's being waged right now. There is no substitute for that victory."
"If we don't win now, then Europe is next and you're next. And we have to win," he later added.
Netanyahu also stressed that "our fight is your fight."
"We have to have the forces of civilization beat these barbarians because otherwise this barbarism will spread and will endanger the entire world," Netanyahu said. "Every American, every civilized country will be under peril. We have to win. There is no substitute for victory. Total victory."

Celebrity pair to send message to Jewish students after troubling incidents on Ivy League campus

FIRST ON FOX: Jewish American singer and rapper Matisyahu will hold a concert Monday evening at Columbia University and be joined virtually by Israeli actress and activist Noa Tishby, to galvanize Jewish students as antisemitism continues to spread across college campuses, Fox News Digital has learned.
"Antisemitism has been around for thousands of years. It's the oldest form of hate and discrimination that's still being practiced today. It's not going anywhere. So what's happening right now is not that antisemitism is rising. It's just coming out," Tishby said in a video previewed by Fox News Digital.
The Israel on Campus Coalition is sponsoring a live concert on the campus at 8 p.m. Monday, which will feature Matisyahu, who is known for his reggae, rap and beatbox-influenced songs such as "King Without a Crown" or "One Day." Tishby will also deliver a special message to students in the video previewed by Fox News Digital, highlighting how Jews have historically prevailed over hate.

OPINION: Columbia University board member's resignation reveals how Jews really feel right now

A non-Jewish friend sent me a piece about Jewish billionaire Henry Sweica's resignation from the Columbia University board over concerns that the university allowed pro-Hamas protesters to engage in hate speech on campus.
My friend wrote: "These don't help anyone." I don’t agree or disagree. I don’t know Mr. Sweica. I don’t know what it will achieve. But I understand why he did so. What follows is my reply to her, edited only slightly for readability.
It’s hard to explain how unnerved American Jews are right now. Our sense of security has given way to not understanding how we didn’t realize so much antisemitism was right below the surface, and where it was lurking. Our sense of security was grounded in knowing friend from foe. That has been upended.

Israeli-American Council CEO calls antisemitism 'a barometer for societal decay'
Israeli-American Council CEO Elan Carr joined "America Reports" on Monday to discuss the rise of antisemitism nationwide amid the Israel-Hamas war.
In the interview, Carr called antisemitism "a barometer for societal decay and evil of all kinds."
"What we're seeing in the world today is shocking: a genocide perpetrated against Jews in the Jewish homeland, in the Jewish state," he continued. "And then around the world, people standing up and supporting it. "
Carr then spoke about the upcoming pro-Israel march in Washington, D.C. planned for Tuesday.
"This march tomorrow in Washington is yes, it's about supporting Israel. Yes, it's about allowing Israel to finish the job and eliminate the threats against it," he explained. "This promises to be, by the way, the largest gathering of Jews and pro-Israel Americans in and one of the largest in the history of the country."
"This is also about fighting antisemitism here and saying enough is enough," he added.
Israel-Hamas war: State Department spox says Hamas shouldn't have refused fuel from Israel

U.S. State Department Spokesperson Matt Miller called out Hamas terrorists on Monday for reportedly refusing fuel from Israeli officials at al-Shifa Hospital.
The State Department spokesman made his remarks during a press briefing on Monday afternoon.
"If they need fuel, which they clearly do, they should have taken the offer from the government of Israel," Miller said. "But to the larger point, Hamas is sitting on fuel reserves in northern Gaza. Hamas is using fuel reserves to ventilate its tunnels."
Miller then accused Hamas of neglecting hospital patients in Gaza by not giving them their own fuel.
"If Hamas truly cared for the people in al-Shifa and in other hospitals in the north, it could take the fuel that it's using to protect its fighters and send it to the hospitals so the hospitals could protect patients," he added. "They are not doing that."
Israeli minister says Hamas has 'lost control of Gaza'

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says Hamas has "lost control" of Gaza amid the Israeli military's assault on the terrorist organization.
Gallant made the statment in a Monday broadcast to Israeli television. Israel is in the 38th day of its war against Hamas, and its ground assault in Gaza has lasted for roughly two weeks. While Gallant says Hamas' control over the region has been removed, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel will not stop until the terrorist organization is "destroyed."
“Hamas has lost control of Gaza. Terrorists are fleeing southward. Civilians are looting Hamas bases,” he said. “They don’t have faith in the government anymore."
"There is no power that Hamas has capable of stopping the IDF. The IDF is advancing to every point," he added.
Israel has yet to release images of the looting Gallant referenced, however, as it has done for many incidents since Hamas' Oct. 7 massacre.
John Kirby admits Biden administration has to 'do more' to combat antisemitism in US

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby admitted that President Biden's administration has to "do more" to combat rising antisemitism in the U.S.
Kirby made the statement during a Monday appearance on Fox News, acknowledging the surge in antisemitism in the wake of Hamas' Oct. 7 massacre in Israel. Kirby says Biden has been very clear and very consistent about the rise of "hate, and particularly antisemitism" in the U.S.
"We've got to do better. We've got to be better," Kirby said, adding that he had been horrified at stories of what Jewish students are going through at college campuses in the U.S. "I don't disagree that we've got to do more. We know that, and the president is focused on that very, very seriously."
Hamas still able to fire rockets from Israeli-controlled areas in Gaza, IDF says

Hamas terrorists are still able to fire rockets into Israel from IDF-held territory in Gaza, Fox News Foreign Correspondent Trey Yingst said Monday.
Yingst says Hamas is using timers to launch rockets belatedly from land they have lost to encroaching Israeli forces. Hamas also has a labyrinth of hundreds of miles of tunnels underground in Gaza.
"Hamas and the Islamic Jihad have rockets that are set on times. They have rockets that they set in the past and they can remotely activate them and they can fire on population centers. So even if there are not militants in the area, they are able to fire on Israel," Yingst said.
Israel's war on Hamas is nearing the end of its 38th day. Israeli leaders have vowed to destroy Hamas before the end of the conflict, rejecting calls for a cease-fire.
Rabbi Moshe Hauer: Israel 'won't turn the other cheek when faced with evil'
Orthodox Union executive vice president Rabbi Moshe Hauer appeared on Fox News ahead of his congressional testimony on antisemitism and the 'March for Israel' rally in Washington, D.C. on Monday.
Hauer said that the voice of the Jewish people and the voice of Israel is a "voice of peace." He argued that everything Israel is doing in Gaza is "done to save."
Moshe rejected the claim that Israel must "turn the other cheek" when faced with violence from Hamas, however.
"We won't turn the other cheek when faced with evil," he said. "If we turn the other cheek then they are here, and then they will destroy everywhere in the world. It is not a value of ours to do that against an active threat."
"Against a personal insult, we can turn the other cheek. Against something which will then encroach, threaten and do what they did on October 7--unspeakable acts of brutality--we have to stand and we have to stand firm and we have to stand strong, and we have no hesitation about that as people of faith," he added.
Jerusalem deputy mayor disputes ‘misinformation’ around fights at Gaza hospitals
Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Fleur Hassan-Nahoum joined Fox News on Monday to discuss Israel's ongoing war against Hamas in Gaza, contesting recent media framing around firefights near Gaza hospitals.
Hamas has accused the Israeli military of attacking civilians in and around the Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, though Israel has said it is only targeting the Hamas headquarters it says is located beneath the facility.
While Hamas denies using Shifa and other hospitals as shields, the Israeli Defense Forces released footage of a Hamas terrorist wielding an RPG at the entrance of the Al-Quds hospital in northern Gaza on Monday.
The IDF says the terrorist fired the RPG at nearby Israeli forces.
