Judge in Diddy's trial appears annoyed over late-running testimony

Judge Arun Subramanian appeared annoyed during celebrity stylist Deonte Nash’s cross-examination.
Nash asked for a break while Sean “Diddy” Combs’ defense lawyer, Xavier Donaldson, questioned him.
The prosecution previously told the federal judge that court would need to run late to accommodate Nash’s entire testimony as he has a flight booked back to Los Angeles Wednesday night.
Judge Subrmanian asked how much time Donaldson had left on cross. Donaldson told the judge he has “absolutely no reason to believe he will be done by 4.” The defense attorney suggested that they let the jury leave for a break. The judge seemed annoyed and asked if this was a “late breaking development.” The prosecution said many of the questions seemed repetitive and noted Nash is not fighting Donaldson.
Nash’s cross-examination resumed after a short break. The stylist took the stand again wearing a jacket.

Arson investigator doubles down on what he believes started Kid Cudi car fire

During cross-examination, arson investigator Lance Jimenez doubled down on what he believed started the car fire that damaged Kid Cudi’s Porsche.
Jimenez testified that his opinion is that the bottle got dropped from the roof, struck a seat, the wick came out and the bottle deposited some of the gasoline in the Porsche, creating the burn pattern.
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo asked if finding the glove would have been significant. Jimenez told the jury it would not have been significant if the glove belonged to the owner.
Jimenez claimed he does not recall when he reached out to Diddy’s assistant, Capricorn Clark, or Cassie Ventura regarding the car fire or whether it was before or after the DNA report came back. He said he reached out and left messages. At one point, Jimenez got Capricorn's brother on the phone and got into a verbal confrontation with him. He testified he was able to contact Cassie’s father, a firefighter, but never heard from Cassie.
Jimenez claimed he did not do any further investigating on the glove once he learned it belonged to Kid Cudi.

Diddy's defense questions investigator on why glove found in Kid Cudi's car wasn't tested for DNA

Jimenez testified that he did not think it was significant that a single glove was in the backseat of the car. He explained he did not take the glove as a piece of evidence. Jimenez agreed he has no idea how the glove got into the car.
Diddy’s defense lawyer, Marc Angifilo, asked if the person holding the Molotov cocktail would wear a glove. Jimenez told the lawyer it’s possible. However, the arson investigator corrected Diddy’s lawyer when Agnifilo claimed a Molotov cocktail would be hot.

Arson investigator Lance Jimenez reached out to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ assistant and his on-and-off-again girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in connection to Kid Cudi’s car fire.
Jimenez confirmed he interviewed Kid Cudi, one of his drivers, as well as one of his assistants. The arson investigator also said he made attempts to reach out to others unsuccessfully, including a suspect, an assistant of the suspect and a common female.
According to Jimenez, he reached out to Diddy’s assistant Capricorn Clark and Cassie. He claimed he was unable to get in contact with Capricorn despite multiple phone calls and door knocks. Jimenez said he also attempted to make contact with Cassie, but was unsuccessful.
Capricorn testified Tuesday that she was contacted by arson investigators in the summer of 2012 for a statement about what had happened. She told the jury she hung up the phone because she “wanted this whole thing to be over…” and speaking to the police would have made it worse.
According to Jimenez, there were no charges brought with respect to the Kid Cudi car fire case, but he never closed the case. It is currently listed as “inactive.”
