U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) launched another round of strikes against Iran on Sunday, extending its military campaign into a ninth straight night.
“CENTCOM began conducting a new wave of strikes against Iran at 7 p.m. ET today for the ninth consecutive night,” the command said in a post shared on X.
“The strikes will continue degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” it added.
U.S. Central Command announced late Sunday that U.S. forces successfully completed a ninth consecutive evening of strikes against Iranian targets.
"CENTCOM assets targeted Iranian military command centers, air defense and coastal surveillance sites, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and communications networks to further diminish Iran's ability to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM said in a post on X.
"The U.S. military is holding Iran accountable at the Commander in Chief's direction. CENTCOM forces remain highly vigilant, focused, lethal, and ready," the post continued.
President Donald Trump said Sunday that the U.S. military campaign against Iran is focused on ensuring Tehran has no path to obtaining a nuclear missile.
“We were doing a little job and stopping them from having a certain capability,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews.
“Now we're just ending it, so it's really not the same thing. What we're doing now is we're ending any chance that they can have a nuclear missile,” he added.
Reflecting on the military campaign, Trump said the U.S. had achieved its objective in a matter of days.
“If you look at it after a week and a half — not four weeks, a week and a half, two weeks — we stopped them from probably. But I don't want to use the word 'probably,'” he said.

"They've got some missiles, they've got some drones, they've got some manufacturing ability. Not much. We control the strait. They don't control anything. So we'll see what happens. But we hit them very hard again tonight."
"And we did that in honor of the probably three. It's probably three as opposed to two great patriots," he said.
A vessel caught fire near the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday in the latest maritime security incident in the region, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
UKMTO said it received a report of the incident about 8 nautical miles (14.8 kilometers) northwest of Kumzar, Oman.
A verified source reported the vessel was on fire. The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
Earlier this month, three commercial vessels came under attack while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to The Associated Press.
One liquefied natural gas tanker caught fire after it was struck off Oman.Iranian state television said the vessel came under attack after ignoring warnings but did not directly claim responsibility.
The vessels appeared to be traveling along a shipping route near Oman's coast rather than one Iran has directed vessels to use.
Tehran has repeatedly said only its approved route through the strait is safe and is suspected of attacking ships that use the Omani route.
The U.S. Embassy in Bahrain issued a security alert Sunday, warning that Iran may target locations in central Manama.
"The U.S. Embassy has information to suggest that Iran may seek to target unspecified locations in central Manama," the embassy said in a post shared on X. "
We urge all Americans to remain vigilant, follow local authorities' instructions, and review the latest guidance from the U.S. Embassy," it said.
Manama sits on Bahrain's northeastern coast to the east of Saudi Arabia, and is home to the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet headquarters.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Sunday that unidentified remains were recovered at the site of the Iranian attack in Jordan before confirming a separate U.S. service member was killed in Iraq.
"Yesterday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the passing of two U.S. service members and the missing status of one in Jordan following an Iranian attack on July 17," CENTCOM said in a post shared on X.
"After a thorough search, U.S. military personnel found unidentified remains at the location earlier today. An examination process to verify the remains is ongoing," the command added.
"Separately, a U.S. service member in northern Iraq was killed in action on July 18 during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone," the command said.
"A second service member was wounded and continues to receive medical treatment for a minor injury."
CENTCOM also stated that it is "withholding additional information, including the identities of the missing and fallen warriors, out of respect for the families during the notification process."
Sirens sounded again on Sunday across Bahrain, coming after Iran had launched attacks in the Gulf region earlier in the day.
"The siren has been sounded... Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place," Bahrain's Interior Ministry said in a post shared on X.

“U.S. Navy sailors remain focused and vigilant aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS John Finn (DDG 113) as American forces continue implementing the naval blockade against Iran,” the command said in a post shared on X.
“As of July 19, CENTCOM has redirected six commercial vessels and disabled one to ensure full compliance,” it added.
President Donald Trump on Sunday called the deaths of two U.S. service members in Jordan "a very sad thing" but said their sacrifice was "in service to our country," while doubling down on Terhan's nuclear ambitions.
Trump made the remarks in an interview with NewsNation's Hannah Brandt after the service members were killed and another remained missing following the Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack on July 17.
Brandt said Trump also reaffirmed one of his longstanding foreign policy positions that “we’re never allowing Iran to have a nuclear weapon.”
Trump also dismissed concerns that Iran had not adhered to the memorandum of understanding (MOU) and the brokered 60-day ceasefire.
According to Brandt, Trump said he "couldn't care less" whether the Iranian regime followed the agreement.
Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said Sunday that the military is monitoring developments in Iran and “maintaining a high level of readiness,” the Times of Israel reported.
His comments came after shrapnel from an Iranian ballistic missile, which had been fired at Jordan, landed in Israel just north of Eilat.
“We monitored the launch toward the Aqaba area today, and our air defense array is on alert to protect the citizens of Israel,” Zamir said during a visit to the West Bank.
“We are prepared to immediately resume fighting and will act with great force against anyone who harms us,” he added.
According to The Jerusalem Post, military sources also said the recent attack had shifted the IDF close to a war footing.

Jordan has summoned Iran's charge d'affaires in Amman on Sunday to protest "unjustified and blatant Iranian attacks" and "provocative and inflammatory statements targeting the Kingdom's territory," Jordan's ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement Sunday.
Amman warned Tehran that Jordan’s security and sovereignty are a “red line,” signaling it would not tolerate further strikes or violations of its territory.
The diplomatic rebuke comes as Jordan faces growing security threats from the escalating conflict between Iran and the United States.
Over the last week, Jordan has repeatedly said that it has intercepted Iranian missiles flying over its territory, including three that it shot down on Sunday, according to the country's military.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Sunday to discuss implementing the Trilateral Framework and strengthening security in Lebanon.
Rubio praised Aoun’s “courage” and his government’s efforts to reclaim control of the country and move toward peace.

Kuwait condemned the Iranian attacks on a power generation and a water desalination facility Sunday, calling the strike a direct assault on vital civilian infrastructure.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said repeated attacks on civilian facilities marked a “dangerous escalation” and violated international law, the United Nations Charter and a U.N. Security Council resolution.
Kuwait said Iran bears full legal and moral responsibility for the attack and its consequences.

The U.S. campaign against Iran will continue despite the deaths of two American service members, according to Energy Secretary Chris Wright on Sunday.
“It’s tragic to lose American lives, but this is a mission that will save countless lives going forward,” Wright told ABC’s “This Week.”
Wright said the administration remains focused on preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, weakening its ability to attack neighboring countries and keeping oil and gas moving through the Strait of Hormuz.
“The president is always looking for the diplomatic off-ramp,” Wright said. “But it takes two parties to do that.”
He added that nearly 14 million barrels of oil per day are now leaving the Arabian Gulf region through the strait and bypass pipelines, roughly two-thirds of pre-war levels.

“Now we’re going to move forward with Plan A again,” McCaul told “Fox News Sunday.” “The military is going to move in, take out their launch pads, take out the ability to send Shahed drones to hit tankers [and] the missiles.”
McCaul said the immediate objective should be destroying targets inside Iran that threaten commercial shipping and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
“We’ve got to knock out these targets inside of Iran to open up the Strait of Hormuz,” he said. “That has to be the fundamental objective.”
McCaul praised President Donald Trump for taking military action against Iran’s nuclear program and argued that U.S. forces had been winning before operations were paused for unsuccessful negotiations.
“The military was winning this war against Iran,” McCaul said.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said President Donald Trump was prepared to take further action against Iran after Tehran broke its agreement with the United States, former Middle East envoy Morgan Ortagus said Sunday.
“He was excited that the president was fed up and had enough with Iran,” Ortagus told “Sunday Morning Futures” of her call with Graham in the final hours before his death earlier this month, adding that Trump was “deciding to hold them accountable for breaking the MOU.”
Ortagus said Graham appeared energized by his work on Iran, Russia sanctions and a potential normalization agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
“I’ve never seen him so excited and full of life,” she said.
Ortagus also praised Lebanese President Joseph Aoun for confronting Hezbollah, saying disarming the Iran-backed terrorist group is “consequential and crucial for American national security.”
Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., called the five-month war with Iran a “disaster” Sunday, arguing that President Donald Trump should “declare victory” and end the conflict after two U.S. service members were killed.
“This is a war of choice,” Warner told ABC’s “This Week,” claiming Iran posed no imminent threat to the United States when the fighting began.
Warner argued that the administration has failed to achieve its goals of regime change, securing Iran’s enriched uranium and eliminating Tehran’s missile and drone capabilities.
“This war of choice has been a disaster,” Warner said. “It has been a disaster militarily. It has been a disaster in terms of how we’re viewed around the world.”
Warner said he saw no short-term path to resolving the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and urged Trump to “declare victory tomorrow and be done.”
The Senate Intelligence Committee’s top Democrat also said Trump should seek congressional authorization before continuing the war or requesting additional funding.
“We’re not going to bomb Iran into submission,” Warner said.
{{#rendered}}The U.S. must not only end the war with Iran, but Congress should stop providing billions of dollars in military aid to Israel, according to Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., on Sunday.
“I want to end this foreign war with Iran,” Khanna told Fox News’ “The Sunday Briefing,” arguing that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was “prolonging this war” and pulling the U.S. deeper into the Middle East conflict.
Khanna was among 103 House Democrats who voted to eliminate military aid to Israel. He said the money should instead be spent on jobs, housing, healthcare and child care in the United States.
“We need to end this war,” Khanna said. “And we need to stop letting Israel dictate terms that get us further entangled in conflicts in the Middle East.”
But Khanna said Israel should continue receiving Iron Dome support to protect civilians, including roughly 700,000 Americans living there, from Iranian missile attacks.
China is sharing information with Iran as Tehran carries out increasingly precise attacks against U.S. targets in the Middle East, according to Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., on Sunday.
“Of course China is involved in this area,” Blackburn told “Sunday Morning Futures.” “China is part of that axis of evil. You’ve got Russia, China, Iran, North Korea. They are partners in this.”
The countries are sharing data and military technology as they seek to expand their global influence, she added
Congress must address funding for increased investment in drones, hypersonic weapons and the Space Force to ensure the U.S. military has the resources needed to counter Iran and other adversaries.

U.S. military operations against Iran are likely to intensify after two American service members were killed in Jordan, retired Gen. Jack Keane warned Sunday.
“We’re going forward [with] combat operations,” Keane told Fox News’ “The Sunday Briefing.” “I think [they’re] likely going to expand as we go forward, given the reality of what we’re facing with Iran.”
Diplomacy had “failed quite miserably,” according to Keane, adding he did not believe Tehran would offer an agreement acceptable to President Donald Trump.

Regime change was never a stated U.S. objective, Keane said, but weakening Tehran enough to place the government “on a pathway to collapse” remains achievable through military operations, sanctions and a naval blockade.

U.S. military pressure on Iran should continue, according to Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., despite his Democratic Party’s growing hostility toward Israel.
“Iran is absolutely important,” Fetterman told Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures." “They have nuclear sites. Why isn’t that important? Why doesn’t that continue to justify these kinds of strikes?”
It remains important to “break the Iranian military regime,” he added, criticizing Democrats who condemn the U.S. while refusing to criticize Tehran.
America is “the arsenal to the free world,” he said, urging the replenishment of critical munitions used in Israel, Ukraine and the Middle East.
“I’m always going to be proud to stand with our military and never make it about politics,” Fetterman said, reiterating his red line on becoming the "anti-Israel party."
“If the Democratic Party puts anti-Israel kinds of terms in that platform, that would force me to kind of reevaluate: Should I remain as a Democrat?” Fetterman said.
“Maybe my party doesn’t want a reasonable, common-sense kind of Democrat that reminds people that standing with Israel, at least, used to be part of our core values."

Iran is moving toward “ultimate capitulation,” former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Sunday as the United States continues military strikes following the deaths of two American service members.
“This isn’t going to be tit for tat,” Pompeo told “Fox & Friends Weekend.” “This is part of a continued strategic campaign” aimed at forcing the Iranian regime to surrender and reducing its ability to control the Strait of Hormuz.
Pompeo said the U.S. blockade and strikes against Iran’s maritime capabilities would erode Tehran’s leverage and eventually leave the regime unable to fund Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis.
“Economic strangle, military power and diplomatic patience will lead to a good conclusion for President Trump and the world,” Pompeo said.

The latest strike sparked a fire in part of the facility and prompted authorities to disconnect several generating units as a precaution, according to local reports.
Emergency crews were working to contain the blaze and limit disruptions to electricity and water supplies.
Kuwait’s military said its air defenses were engaging hostile drones and that explosions heard by residents were caused by interception operations.
Authorities have blamed Iran for the attacks, which have targeted military sites and critical civilian infrastructure amid the widening regional conflict.

Disputing an earlier warning from the U.S. Embassy, Jordanian authorities said Sunday that no order had been issued to evacuate Aqaba’s international airport or seaport.
"No potential threats have been recorded by the relevant Jordanian authorities in the past few hours," government spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani told Reuters in a written statement.
"The airport and port are operating normally."
The U.S. embassy had said the airport and seaport were evacuated due to a "specific and credible threat," without providing further details.
It advised Americans to refrain from travelling to either location and to continue to follow all security directives issued by Jordanian authorities.
Jordan was the target of Iranian IRGC strikes that killed two American soldiers and left one more missing earlier this week.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization on Sunday condemned what it said was a U.S. strike on a nuclear power plant under construction in Darkhovin, calling the attack a “crime against international law,” according to the semi-official Mehr news agency.
Construction of the plant in southwestern Iran's Khuzestan province began in 2022.
The organization did not immediately provide details on the extent of the damage or whether there were casualties. The United States has not yet publicly commented on the claim.
CENTCOM completed its eight consecutive night of strikes on Iran and the IRGC's coastal military installations last Saturday night.

{{#rendered}}CENTCOM completed an eighth consecutive night of strikes against Iran late Saturday, targeting coastal surveillance systems, air defenses, maritime assets, and missile and drone storage sites.
The operation was carried out at the direction of the commander in chief and was intended to further degrade Iran’s military capabilities after two American soldiers were killed and another missing after Iran's strikes on a military base in Jordan.
U.S. forces also struck Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) units accused of launching those attacks in Jordan on Friday.
More than 50,000 U.S. troops are currently operating across the Middle East, according to CENTCOM, which said the forces remain on high alert.
The international airport and seaport in Aqaba in southern Jordan were evacuated because of a "specific and credible threat," the U.S. embassy wrote Sunday morning on X.
"We strongly advise all Americans to refrain (from) traveling to either the airport or seaport. Continue to follow all Jordanian authorities’ security directives," the embassy said.
The evacuation came after the completion of CENTCOM's eighth consecutive night of strikes on Iran's IRGC in retaliation of strikes that left two American service members dead and one missing.
