Tom Homan, ex director en funciones ICE , critica al sheriff por liberar a un inmigrante ilegal y dice que debería haber llamado a los federales

Después de que un sheriff Carolina del Norte pusiera en libertad bajo fianza a un inmigrante ilegal en un caso de violación de menores, Tom ex director en funciones ICE Tom Homan, dijo que el agente del orden debería haber llamado al gobierno federal y haber hecho detener al sospechoso.
El sospechoso fue finalmente detenido por las autoridades federales, dos meses después de que el sheriff del condado de Mecklenburg, Garry McFadden, hiciera caso omiso de una orden de retención ICE y lo pusiera en libertad.
"El condado de Mecklenburg quiere ser un condado santuario. Este sheriff ha tomado la decisión de dejar de ser policía y ser político", dijo Homan en"Fox & Friends Weekend".
Homan said this is a common practice among local law enforcement and began listing cases where suspects were released on bond, despite being accused of heinous crimes while in the country illegally.
"I wrote a few cases down," he said. "Numerous sex offenses, people arrested for assault and larceny -- assault with a deadly weapon, rape with indecent liberties with a child, numerous drug offenses, felony possession of a gun, assault by strangulation... These are the type of people he’s releasing, rather than calling ICE."

Charlotte police arrested Oscar Pacheco-Leonardo on June 14 on charges of rape and indecent liberties with a minor. Records show Pacheco-Leonardo was accused of having sex with a child under the age of 13. He was due to appear back in court in October.
McFadden issued a statement, saying, "Bonds are not set by the Mecklenburg County sheriff’s office... We do not have any part of the bonds being set and we do not have any part of the magistrate releasing these individuals... When the person meets the condition of his bond by law, I’m supposed to allow him to leave."
Homan claimed the statement does not excuse McFadden from his responsibilities, and said he should have contacted ICE immediately.

"He has a telephone. Pick up the phone and call ICE," he replied. "Let’s say his lawyers say, 'don’t honor the detainer we think there's a liability issue'... You can pick the phone up and call ICE before you release that person. It doesn’t cost him anything."
"He’s knowingly releasing a public safety threat back into the public," Homan continued. "He says he’s protecting the immigrant community. He’s doing the exact opposite. Because these people will re-offend in the very community in which they live.... he's putting the immigrant community at greater risk of crime."
