A California mother received the surprise of a lifetime when her son, an enlisted Army soldier, surprised her at a Sacramento Kings game.

Pfc. Brandon Covey, a Black Hawk helicopter crew chief, was part of an elaborate plan to greet his mother at the Golden 1 Center on Sunday.

Covey's mother, Vanessa Ibarra, was standing blindfolded as people jumped on a trampoline in front of her and dunked a basket over her head.

Her son was next in line — but he didn't jump on the trampoline with the rest of the dunk team. Instead, he walked around it to approach his mother and remove her blindfold.

Ibarra shouted out with happiness at the sight of her son.

Covey, according to the Kings, had just returned from South Korea.
