'Geyser' at JFK Airport bursts from ground near baggage claim

Looks like Old Faithful’s got some competition.
A "geyser" of water sprang up inside New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 8 after a rainy weekend.

Eugene Galdi, who was waiting at the airport for his family to return from Italy, spotted the eruption of water Sunday afternoon near baggage claim and recorded the incident.
Luckily, the nearby carousel wasn’t being used at the time so no luggage was damaged and the mess was cleaned up within a few hours, Eyewitness News reported.

A spokesperson for Port Authority, which oversees the airport, told Fox News the geyser was a result of a backflow of rainwater, which came through the floor drain when the reverse flow valve malfunctioned.
