Delaware shooting: 3 police officers injured by gunman later found dead following standoff

Three Wilmington, Delaware, police officers were hospitalized after being shot by a suspect during a call late Wednesday, police said.
Officers later found the alleged shooter, identified as Bernard Goodwyn, 31, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound following a 12-year standoff, FOX 29 in Philadelphia reported.
The officers were listed in "stable" condition, the Wilmington Police Department said in a release. One of the officers has been released from the hospital, the station reported.
Goodwyn allegedly shot the officers as they entered his apartment for a domestic call.

A SWAT team and dozens of officers remained at the scene near North Market Street Wednesday night negotiating with Goodwyn while he was barricaded inside an apartment, FOX 29 reported.
Thursday morning, SWAT officers removed three adults and a child from the apartment using a ladder truck, according to the station.
"I visited with two of the officers this morning & spoke to the other officer by phone," Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki tweeted Thursday. "They are in good spirits & are being well cared for by wonderful medical professionals and are with their supportive families."

Police asked people to avoid the area or shelter in place.
