Bomb threat near Texas courthouse prompts 2-mile evacuation
2-mile radius in downtown Angleton, Texas, advised to evacuate Thursday, sheriff's office said
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A swath of a Texas town was given the all-clear after authorities advised the area to evacuate on Thursday during the investigation of a bomb threat near a county courthouse.
The evacuation zone spanned a 2-mile radius in the downtown Angleton area near the Brazoria County Courthouse, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a post on Facebook.
"After multiple thorough sweeps of the area, authorities have found no materials or devices that pose a danger to the community," the sheriff's office said. "The evacuation advisory has been lifted, and there is no ongoing threat."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The sheriff's office initially said that the courthouse was evacuated as a precaution, and several roads were shut down after a threat was made. Later, the sheriff's office advised a 2-mile swath of the downtown area to evacuate.

It’s unclear how or who made the threat.
