Bulger juror describes 'stressful' deliberations, doubt over veracity of some testimony

A juror in the trial of Boston mobster James "Whitey" Bulger (BUHL'-jur) describes "stressful" deliberations with "all kinds of dissension" that involved slamming doors and walkouts.

The jury deliberated for more than 32 hours over five days before finding Bulger guilty Monday of all but one of the 33 counts he faced, including multiple murders.

Juror Scott Hotyckey (HOD'-ik-ee) of Framingham tells WBZ-TV (http://cbsloc.al/16I1VLu ) that after hearing the testimony, he was positive Bulger was guilty. But he says other jurors needed more convincing and questioned the credibility of some witnesses.

He says he was willing to compromise to ensure Bulger was punished.

The 47-year-old Hotyckey says at least two jurors were afraid of retaliation from Bulger associates.

Hotyckey says despite the tension and disagreements, he considers his fellow jurors his friends.
