Seattle plane crash: One person dead, nine unaccounted for after float plane plunges into bay
The plane was heading toward Seattle, Washington, when it crashed into Mutiny Bay

A float plane with nine adults and one child on board crashed on Sunday in a bay about 30 miles north of Seattle, Washington, according to the Coast Guard.
One deceased individual was recovered from the water while nine others were still unaccounted for.
Several agencies responded to the scene in Mutiny Bay, including the Island County Sheriff, Snohomish County Sheriff, and Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard said it responded to reports of a plane crash around 3:11 p.m. PST.

The float plane was a 55-year-old de Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter, according to Flightradar24. It took off from Friday Harbor and was in the air for 19 minutes before crashing.

The Coast Guard said the plane was traveling to Renton Municipal Airport. The agency issued a correction after initially saying the plane was headed for Seattle Tacoma International Airport.

Video posted by a witness showed several boats in the water and what appeared to be a Coast Guard helicopter flying overhead.

In an early Monday morning update, the Coast Guard said several agency boats would continue to search throughout the night. It said additional air support would start up again at first light.
