Michigan mother to serve 30 days in jail after running over 9-year-old son

A Michigan mother who pleaded guilty to running over her 9-year-old son, resulting in a brain injury to the child, will serve 30 days in jail, according to reports.
Tiffany Kosakowski, 36, pleaded guilty in February to a felony count of reckless driving after prosecutors say she ran over her son after dropping him off at school in December.
But on Thursday, Kent County Circuit Judge Curt Benson sentenced Kosakowski to six months in jail with all but 30 days suspended -- despite calling her actions “simply inexcusable.”

Surveillance video from the Chandler Woods Charter Academy showed the moment Kosakowski’s son hung from the passenger-side front door of her vehicle for nearly 50 yards before he lost grip and was run over Dec. 11.

Authorities say he didn't want to stay at school. The boy survived but suffered a fractured skull, a traumatic injury to his brain and broken bones. A second-degree child abuse charge was later dropped.
Kosakowski said during her sentencing hearing that she must "live with this for the rest of my life."
