Oscars

The Oscars are a highly acclaimed annual event presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Oscars night marks one of the most anticipated events in Hollywood, where veteran entertainers and rising stars are presented with awards for their work from the year prior.

The first Oscars ceremony was in 1929 at the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt where Marilyn Monroe lived for two years. Today, the award ceremony is held at the Dolby Theatre.

From the announcement of nominees, pre-show events and red carpet fashion to the ceremony itself, the Oscars bring about buzz year after year which often include shocking moments and controversial snubs. In 2017, the wrong film was announced as the winner for best picture and in 2022, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage. These incidents are two of the most memorable from modern Oscar shows.

Some of the most prestigious Oscar awards go to the categories best picture, best director, best actor, best actress and best screenplay.
