Jana Kramer wrote a heartwarming post on Saturday saying she was “so proud” of her husband, former NFL star Mike Caussin, for opening up about his battle with sex addiction.

“This past week has been so amazing but I need to do a post for this man here," the country singer wrote in an Instagram post. "On Monday he shared his story and his truth about addiction on the podcast which he didn’t have to do by any means but did because he wants to help others. I just want to take a minute to say how proud of him that I am,” Kramer said.

“Addiction is a very hard thing for both those going through it and those affected by it but I am so proud of his strength and willingness to be a better man for not only his family but for himself,” she added. “And I truly can’t wait to see all the people he is going to help on his journey through sobriety. Recovery should be celebrated. Happy one year my love. We got your back and are here for you.”

Caussin appeared on Kramer’s podcast, “Whine Down with Jana Kramer,” last Monday and said he first sought treatment at an inpatient treatment facility three years ago.

"Jana kind of gave me an ultimatum when everything came out, and she discovered everything, and she looked at me and said, 'You need to go somewhere. Basically, you need to figure out what's going on and what this is, or I'm gone, period,'" the former NFL player said.

Kramer and Caussin separated in August 2016 after a year of marriage when the athlete’s cheating came to light. The couple managed to save their relationship and renewed their vows in December 2017.

The 32-year-old was at a treatment facility for 60 days and recently marked one year sober. He said he no longer feels "an overwhelming amount of shame" and that he's "comfortable with owning the fact that I am a sex addict."

"For me, I realized a lot of things throughout my life that sex and sexual acting out was my addictive behavior, and that's where I went to hide my feelings, to run away from reality and that was my drug," Caussin explained.

Caussin also revealed that he has had "stumbles" since rehab but there was "no sex outside of the marriage" during a relapse in 2018.
