John Legend is defending Chrissy Teigen.

Teigen has been at the center of scandal for weeks now after being accused of intense cyberbullying in the past which was intensified when designer Michael Costello came out with his own claims after the star publicly apologized.

Costello, 38, alleged in a lengthy Instagram post that Teigen sent him disparaging messages over social media years ago that caused him to have suicidal thoughts.

The "Project Runway" alum said the messages from Teigen, 35, and her campaign against his brand caused "trauma" and his mother Nancy told Fox News that it was hurtful that her son's name was not included in Teigen's apology and that "the damage is done."

The cookbook author's team has since claimed that the alleged messages between her and Costello are fake, deepening the controversy further.

Now, Legend, who has been married to Teigen since 2013, has come to his wife's defense on Twitter.

"Chrissy apologized for her public tweets, but after her apology, Mr Costello fabricated a DM exchange between them," the 42-year-old singer said online on Friday. "This exchange was made up, completely fake, never happened."

JOHN LEGEND REVEALS HOW CHRISSY TEIGEN IS DOING AMID CYBERBULLYING SCANDAL

"Honestly I don’t know why anyone would fake DMs to insert themselves in this narrative, but that’s what happened," he continued. "I encourage everyone who breathlessly spread this lie to keep that same energy when they correct the record."

Costello later hit back on Twitter admitting that "if someone were to say anything about my family, I would defend them to the max."

"I understand wehre you are coming from @JohnLegend. I respect and love your music," he continued. "I even have four of your songs on my playlist, not that you care. But, your wife has hurt good people and done a lot of shady things offline to ruin other people's careers. You may not know that, but she does."

Legend caught wind of the message and jabbed back at the designer.

"Bruh. Stop. You know you made all this up. Please just stop," he wrote in response. "I'd really love to know who put you up to all this. Why fabricate an entire narrative? Did you want to be in the news this badly? Why fake a set of DMs? Just why?"

CHRISSY TEIGEN BREAKS SILENCE ON MICHAEL COSTELLO ALLEGATIONS

The "Never Break" singer continued: "Don't talk to me about my wife as if I haven’t lived with her, married her and raised kids with her. I know who she is and y’all didn’t even do a good job of mimicking her voice in those fake a-- DMs. By the way, when are you going to admit they were fake? Admit they were fake please."

After Teigen's team denied that the alleged messages were real, Costello's rep reacted to the "Cravings" author's claims

In a statement to Fox News on Friday, his rep stated, in part: "The fact that Chrissy Teigen’s team is desperately trying to prove the DM’s are fake and attempts to discredit Michael Costello, a victim of trauma and bullying by Chrissy Teigen both online and offline, confirms that she remains the same bully, despite her public apology."

"When a victim feels like their only recourse is to speak up, and the abuser’s first move is to discredit the victim and shame him publicly, this perpetrates victim-blaming and it costs lives," the rep added.

CHRISSY TEIGEN ‘STEPPING AWAY FROM’ SAFELY BRAND AMID SCANDAL ‘TO BE WITH HER FAMILY’

"Seven years ago, when Michael Costello presented Chrissy Teigen with evidence directly that the alleged racist comment she saw was fake, she refused to believe him. Now, her team is quick to discredit Michael’s character in an attempt to salvage her image and partnerships negatively impacted by her decade-long problematic behavior," the rep continued.

"Beyond the DM’s and the public comments Chrissy Teigen left on Michael Costello’s Instagram for the world to see, there are emails and documents unreleased to the public which confirms Chrissy Teigen has gone beyond social media to blacklist Michael Costello offline, making him endure over seven years of suffering - mentally and financially."

Teigen herself has also spoken out in response to Costello. "No idea what the f--k michael costello is doing," she began on social media. "He just released a statement where he didn’t at ALL acknowledge how fake the dm’s were, & now claims to have emails that don’t exist."

She also asked fans not to "bully" Costello over his claims, but jabbed the designer for "causing actual pain to people who are trying to better themselves."

Despite their defense, it was announced that Teigen would be "stepping back" from her cleaning brand Safely "to be with her family" on Friday.
