Cary Elwes played the main character Westley, aka the Dread Pirate Roberts, in the cult classic ‘The Princess Bride.’

Now Elwes has written a book of behind-the-scenes stories from his time on set called “As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales From The Making of The Princess Bride.” He introduced the book at this year’s New York Comic Con, 27 years after the film’s release, and noticed something new about some of the movie’s diehards.

"There were a couple of fans with ‘As You Wish’ tattoos today there, seem to be more and more of those lately, so that's a good thing,” Elwes said. “I think I can speak for the whole cast we all feel incredibly blessed that this film has resonated with so many people.”

Elwes said without “Princess Bride,” he wouldn’t be where he is now.

"I was 23 when I made the film and it was my first big Hollywood movie and it changed my life so profoundly, gave me the career I have today and the wonderful life I lead, that's why I wanted to write the book,” he said. “Not just to express how much the film meant to me but to share with the fans how much fun it was."

Elwes also shared some of the anecdotes from the book.

"One of the more important moments for me in the movie was when I broke my toe riding on Andre the Giant's all-terrain vehicle. That was a smart move on my part. He was driving up to me on this thing and he kept saying, ‘Boss you want to drive my toy?’ And I kept saying, ‘Andre I don’t ride motorbikes,’ and he kept saying, ‘Come on boss you know you want to,’ like that and he kept doing this for a week straight… I didn't get more than a foot and I broke my toe going over a rock, and this was three weeks before the sword fighting scene, so I was pretty tense about that, but Rob, beautiful man that he is, he was very sweet about it all said, ‘Don't worry we'll work around it if we need to,’ and it was pretty well healed by the time we had to shoot."
