"The Crown," Netflix's acclaimed series about Queen Elizabeth II and her family, has paused production due to the monarch's death."
'The Crown' is a love letter to her, and I’ve nothing to add for now, just silence and respect," Peter Morgan, writer of the Emmy-winning drama, said in a brief statement. "I expect we will stop filming out of respect too."
A spokesperson for the series said production was paused on Friday "as a mark of respect" and will also be suspended on the day of the queen’s funeral.

Meghan Markle might not be present for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, according to a royal expert who spoke to Fox News Digital.
Former British public affairs official Shannon Felton Spence explained that Markle and Prince Harry were already traveling in Europe when the monarch died on Thursday, but she could decide to return home to California ahead of the funeral to be with their two young children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.
"Harry will likely stay in the U.K. until the funeral. I can’t imagine Meghan won’t attend, but again from a human perspective, Meghan was expecting to leave the kids for six days, not weeks, so [it] may not be possible for her to stay the whole time," Spence said.

The Royal Family shared on their social media accounts the tributes made in Queen Elizabeth II's honor seen around the world.
"Across the UK and overseas, flowers have been laid, bells have tolled, and Gun Salutes have been fired in tribute to Her Majesty The Queen," they wrote.
This afternoon, Queen Elizabeth II's death was marked by a 96 gun salute starting at 1pm in the United Kingdom. Gun salutes will be fired in London along with other areas around the UK and at saluting stations abroad.
Mourners returned to the gates of Buckingham Palace on Friday to lay flowers and other mementos for the Queen.

After the death of the queen's father, King George VI, on 6 February 1952, Elizabeth's coronation took place over a year later in June 1953. The U.K. will undergo a period of mourning for the next few months until King Charles is crowned at Westminster Abbey; however, he may immediately begin his reign as king after over 50 years of service as the Prince of Wales.

President Joe Biden informed reporters he will be attending Queen Elizabeth's funeral.
"I don't know what the details are yet. But I will be going," he confirmed Friday while speaking to reporters before board Air Force One in Ohio.
Biden also revealed he had not yet spoken to King Charles III.
"I know him. I haven't spoken to him," he said. "I did not call him yet."

LONDON – It appears that even the death of the Queen may not be enough to repair the relationship between her grandsons. Over in Windsor, right by Heathrow Airport's flight path and close to where William the Conqueror decided to build a castle, there is royal drama.
Diva wars some might say is playing out, simply because Harry and Meghan, and Catherine and William are well, not speaking. Many thought this would be the perfect opportunity to have the royals get back together, but as a source pointed out, while the duo feel sorry for Harry, any feelings of the thaw taking a turn halted when Meghan decided to offer her guttural feelings to the New York based magazine, The Cut.
This made the lawn at Windsor frost over, if William was even thinking of cutting any slack to his younger brother, then this stopped it dead in its tracks.

Following the announcement of their new titles, Prince William and Kate Middleton are focusing on "deepening the trust and respect" of the people of Wales, a royal source told Fox News Digital. Prince William and Middleton will take a "modest and humble way" when approaching their new roles.
"The new Princess of Wales appreciates the history associated with this role but will understandably want to look to the future as she creates her own path," the source added.

King Charles III adressed the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth for the first time Friday following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
He called Queen Elizabeth an "inspiration" and an "example" for him.
"That promise of lifelong service I renew to all today," Charles said.
He noted that Queen Elizabeth II made a promise to live a life of service to the UK and Commonwealth on her 21st birthday.
"That was more than a promise," the new king admitted. "It was a profound personal commitment which defined her whole life. She made sacrifices for duty. her dedication, and devotion were soveriegn never wavered through change and progress sadness and loss.
King Charles III pledged "to uphold the constitutional principles at the heart of our nation."
He promised to serve "with loyalty, respect and love as i have throughout my life."
The new king also touched on Queen Consort Camilla's "steadfast devotion to duty" that he "relies on."
He gave his son William the title of Prince of Wales - a title he held before he became king - during the address. Kate Middleton will now hold the title of Princess of Wales.
King Charles III also gave his love to his younger son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle.
He ended his speech by thanking his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The queen died Thursday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland at the age of 96. Members of the royal family traveled to Scotland to be with the queen after doctors placed her under medical supervision over health concerns earlier Thursday.

Kate Middleton is likely to take on the late Princess Diana's former title as Princess of Wales following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
When Charles became king, his former title of Prince of Wales became available. Charles' eldest son, Prince William, and now official heir to the throne, could be offered his father's former title.
Ultimately, this would make Middleton, now the Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge, the Princess of Wales. This special title was last used by Charles' then-wife, Princess Diana, who died in 1997 at age 36.

King Charles III arrived to Buckingham Palace on Friday to a massive crowd. He and Queen Consort Camilla traveled back to London a day after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
He got out of the car to greet well-wishers and look at some of the huge pile of floral tributes left to honor his mother Queen Elizabeth II. Some called “Thank you Charles” and “Well done, Charlie!” as he shook hands with the crowd. Several shouted “God save the King!” A few broke into a rendition of Britain’s national anthem, which is now titled “God Save the King.”

Queen Elizabeth died Thursday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland at the age of 96.
"She led the country through some of our greatest and darkest moments with grace and decency and genuine caring," John said.
"I’m 75, and she’s been with me all my life, and I feel very sad that she won’t be with me anymore, but I’m glad she’s at peace," he said. "I’m glad she’s at rest, and she deserves it. She worked bloody hard."

Prince Harry flew out of Scotland's Aberdeen Airport on Friday, a day after traveling to Balmoral Castle where his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, died at 96 years old Thursday.
The Duke of Sussex was flying to London to be with his family as they mourn and prepare for her funeral.
The royal family released guidance on mourning Queen Elizabeth II Friday morning, writing that it is King Charles III's "wish that a period of Royal Mourning be observed from now until seven days after The Queen’s Funeral. The date of the Funeral will be confirmed in due course."
The guidance also said a Royal Gun Salute would be fired at 1 p.m. in London, royal palaces would be closed until after her funeral and told members of the public where it's OK to leave flowers in honor of the queen.

The queen has been portrayed on film and in television, with celebrities flocking for a chance to play the royal figure on screen, or even perhaps just shake her hand at an exclusive event.
Dame Helen Mirren earned her first Academy Award for her portrayal of Elizabeth in the 2006 film, "The Queen." She later earned a Tony Award for playing Elizabeth in a 2013 theatrical performance, "The Audience."
Not only did Mirren take home the best actress trophy, she was also praised by the Queen for her performance, and invited to dinner at Buckingham Palace.
"I’m mourning along with the rest of my country, the passing of a great Queen. I’m proud to call myself of the Elizabethan age," Mirren said in a statement. "If there was a definition of nobility, Elizabeth Windsor embodied it."

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday said that Queen Elizabeth II was “one of my favorite people.”
“It is with the deepest of sorrow that we learned today of the passing of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II," the prime minister said in a speech in front of reporters in Vancouver.
He continued, "She was our queen for almost half of Canada's existence. And she had an obvious deep and abiding love and affection for Canadians."
Canada is a member of the Commonwealth and was part of the British Empire until 1982.
"She was one of my favorite people in the world and I will miss her so,” he added.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Queen Elizabeth the “embodiment of the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom” after her death at 96 on Thursday.
“Together with the American people, I extend my deepest sympathies to His Majesty The King, the entire Royal Family, the people of the United Kingdom, and the peoples of the Commonwealth on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” Bliken said in an official U.S. State Department statement.
“For more than 70 years – a period during which the United Kingdom and the world witnessed unprecedented change – Queen Elizabeth personified a sense of stability. During a time of tremendous division, she was a source of unity.”
The queen ascended to the throne in 1952 after the death of her father King George VI.
Blinken continued, “Her influence extended well beyond the Commonwealth. As Queen, she visited more than 120 countries, including the United States, where she made a point of meeting not only with leaders, but with people from all walks of life. She was the embodiment of the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom, and a symbol of the enduring alliance that has seen our nations through the greatest tests of the 20th and 21st centuries.”
He added the U.S. joins “people around the world in mourning her passing, and we will forever be inspired by the memory of her service, leadership, and friendship.”

On her 21st birthday in 1947, then-Princess Elizabeth went on the radio and made a promise to Britain and its commonwealth nations.
At the time, she pledged that "my whole life, whether it be short or long, will be devoted to your service." The long-reigning monarch has fulfilled that vow over the years, including with Tuesday's engagement.

Queen consort is the title given to the spouse of a reigning king. In other words, it is given to those who are brought into the royal family by marriage.
A person who is queen consort is not in line for the throne and would not ascend the throne in the event that the king dies before them, since that role must be inherited and can't be taken through marriage.

Peter Morgan, the writer behind Netflix's "The Crown" expects the hit television series to pause filming as the news of Queen Elizabeth's death emerged, Deadline reported.
He revealed in an email to the outlet that the series is a "love letter" to the Queen and "out of respect," he believes the show's production will pause.
The drama series debuted in 2016 and focused on Queen Elizabeth's historic reign. The fifth season is set to premiere in November.

The Supreme Court joins the White House in lowering the American Flag's stationed outside the buildings on Thursday. President Biden shared a statement following the monarch's death.

The Pope, along with the Vatican, are sharing their condolences after learning that Queen Elizabeth II has died.
"Deeply saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, I offer heartfelt condolences to Your Majesty, the Members of the Royal Family, the People of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth," the statement read.
"I willingly join all who mourn her loss in praying for the late Queen’s eternal rest, and in paying tribute to her life of unstinting service to the good of the Nation and the Commonwealth, her example of devotion to duty, her steadfast witness of faith in Jesus Christ and her firm hope in his promises."
The statement concluded with: "Commending her noble soul to the merciful goodness of our Heavenly Father, I assure Your Majesty of my prayers that Almighty God will sustain you with his unfailing grace as you now take up your high responsibilities as King. Charles, 77, automatically became the king of England after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth, according to British laws of succession.
He will be known as King Charles III.
The new king's coronation and first formal appearance as the head of the commonwealth is not yet scheduled — Charles is expected to stay the night at Balmoral with the rest of the Royal Family.

A double rainbow was spotted above Buckingham Palace as the news of Queen Elizabeth's death broke.
Many began to gather outside of Buckingham Palace after the world learned that Her Majesty had been placed under medical supervision on Sept. 8 after doctors became "concerned" about her health.
Charles, the new king of Great Britain and the Commonweath, released his first statement regarding Queen Elizabeth II's death.
"The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family," he wrote.
"We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherised Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the ocuntry, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by the countless people around the world."
"During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be conforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held."
The official royal family web page has gone black in rememerance of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The landing page now features a photo of the young queen and listed her years of life.
"The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon," the royal family shared on the website.
"The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
The website has been made "temporarily unavailable" while "appropriate changes" are made.

World leaders and politicians are reacting Thursday to Kensington Palace’s announcement that Queen Elizabeth II’s doctors are "concerned" for her health.
"The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime. My thoughts -- and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom -- are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time," Liz Truss, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom said.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has extended the support of the Church of England to Queen Elizabeth II as doctors say they are "concerned" for her health.
"My prayers, and the prayers of people across the Church of England and the nation, are with Her Majesty The Queen today," Archbishop Justin Welby, head of the Church of England and spiritual leader of the Anglican Communion, said in a statement.
The archbishop added, "May God’s presence strengthen and comfort Her Majesty, her family, and those who are caring for her at Balmoral."

A plane carrying members of the royal family has landed in Aberdeen, according to the BBC.
Prince William, Prince Andrew and the Earl and Countess of Wessex were aboard the flight.
Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, along with his wife, Camilla, and sister, Princess Anne, were with the queen at Balmoral Castle, her summer residence in Scotland.
