Demi Lovato has always been open with her opinions, and in Glamour’s November 2016 issue she does not hold back.

One of her targets was fellow pop-star Taylor Swift's posse of friends, dubbed her "squad."

“The women in Swift’s squad tend to be slender, and that’s not realistic,” Lovato explained to the fashion magazine.

Regarding swifts “Bad Blood” music video, she said, “I think that having a song and a video about defeating Katy Perry and tearing her down, that’s just not women’s empowerment. We all do things that aren’t [empowering], but I have to ask myself, ‘Am I comfortable with calling myself a feminist?’ Yes, because I speak out.”

Lovato also spoke about what her life was like when she was living with an eating disorder and mental illness. She hopes that her story takes some of the stigma from the disease.

“I feel it’s selfish when you don’t use your voice for good,” she told Glamour. “There is nothing wrong with a women being proud of an element of her life that’s talked about in a rap music all the time!”

Lovato has come a long way with her image and career since 2010 and hopes that she can influence her fans' lives for the better.

The singer and Wilmer Valderrama broke off a 6-year relationship in June. And it wasn’t easy, she told Glamour.

“I think it’s healthy to be able to start over with someone else,” Lovato said. “Being sick was always a part of my relationship with him. I always had something wrong with me. I needed to let go of that. It was hard to depart from somebody who saw everything, but it may be nice to start fresh with somebody, because that person I was when I was a lot younger is not who I am today.”
