Weeks before her wedding, Hannah Kyle was in a car accident that left her with a broken pelvis and ribs, a concussion and a punctured kidney. On the couple’s big day, her groom, Stuart Peterson, surprised Kyle by carrying her down the aisle.

Kyle, 23, and Peterson, 25, both of Northern Ireland, were childhood sweethearts who met when they were 4 and 6, respectively, and spent much of their relationship apart after Peterson’s family moved to Canada five years ago, Inside Edition reported.

Kyle moved to Canada and the two became engaged last year.

Though Kyle thought her Aug. 25 wedding day would be ruined after her accident, Peterson surprised her at the aisle, where she thought her father had planned to wheel her down. Peterson picked up his bride and carried her the rest of the way.

More on this...

"When I saw Stuart heading toward her, I was momentarily confused... and then overcome with emotion," the couple’s videographer, Emily Suzanne Harris, told Inside Edition. "It was such a touching moment. [Stuart] showed us all the true meaning of love that day."

Kyle was in constant pain, even standing on one leg during her wedding day, but she was still able to enjoy their wedding day.

"I was glad to be able to sit the rest of the evening," she told Inside Edition.
