New Jersey man was recently arrested on charges of aggravated assault and practicing medicine without a license after a woman was reportedly left with facial scars following a botched laser surgery.

'FREAK' SNOWBOARDING ACCIDENT LEFT WOMAN WITH TORN PANCREAS, LARGE SCAR

The woman, who has not been identified, told officials with the Palisades Park Police Department earlier this month that barbershop owner Young Hwan Choi, 72, performed laser surgery on her face in November 2017. The procedure allegedly caused the woman “significant bodily injury,” which includes scars on both her face and chin, according to a statement from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Choi was arrested on Jan. 25 after officials with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Palisades Park Police Department conducted an investigation into the woman’s complaint. The investigation revealed that Choi is not a doctor — meaning it's illegal for him to practice medicine or surgery.

While it’s not currently clear if there are more victims, “any individuals who suffered injury as a result of laser treatment by Young Hwan Choi are urged to contact the Palisades Park Police Department to report the incident,” the statement from the prosecutor's office reads, noting the investigation is ongoing.
